philosophy

I like turtles.

I am inspired by, and constantly striving for, quality. It's as simple as that.

Quality can be found anywhere, but it seems to be more elusive than ever before. One can find mediocrity in abundance.
Look no further than advertising, Hollywood movies, television sitcoms, cheap furniture, dreadful human beings who commute
on the Red Line, customer service, education, fast food, politicians, and KISS 108 FM.

Mediocrity is everywhere.

But it doesn't have to be. I want to surround myself with people who recognize and pursue quality in everything they do.

Below are some great examples that I've stumbled upon, and the common thread is empathy. The creators of each understood
that human beings read headlines, consume media and interact with a brand. Not marketing executives. I want to align myself
with this camp.

Walk this way

This sure beats a "This is not an exit" sign, and took just as long to make.

Illiterate

Just as I was about to click the close button muttering under my breath about these damn invasive pop-up windows
I noticed the opt-out button. Brilliant. Again, this took the same amount of effort as typing a completely forgettable
"Not Interested" message.

Surf Camp

Watch Surf Camp

This is without question my favorite TV spot of all time. The photography, unapologetic slow cuts, and music
are absolutely flawless. If they had tinkered with any of those variables this spot would not be successful.
This is about a brief respite from the chaos the children, and parents, experience while coping with this
disorder. No need to rush it. Or hit you over the head with the message. You are forced to just live it.
In the moment.

My goal is to produce something as powerful as this spot one day.

Masshole

OK, so maybe I didn't create Surf Camp yet, but I did create this. CAR KEYS or KHAKIS

A Masshole's tribute to the now defunct BACON or BEER CAN internet sensation that brilliantly showcased a Rastaman
and two buttons 1) Bacon or 2) Beer Can.

Of course, there was only one sound clip.

Baaauuycun

Genius in it's simplicity, it reminded those of us in the "biz" to stop over-engineering simple ideas.

My friends at work joked about creating a Masshole version using my fat mug and thick Boston accent as the "talent."
Thirty minutes later we bought the domain name and were off and running.
